FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I'm new to Microcurrent, can I schedule a consultation to learn more?
YES, and in fact, we encourage you to do so. The certified technician will explain the treatment process and answer any questions or concerns you may have. She will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.
What can I expect during my treatment session?
You can relax and comfortably recline while the technician applies positive and negative electrodes on the targeted muscle group, applying gentle electrical stimulation to trigger the body's natural enhancement chemicals at both the cellular and muscular levels. Specific Frequency Signatures (SFS) are delivered to targeted tissues that will direct the currents in order to facilitate conduction.
Note: Liver detoxification pathways deal with the by-products from the muscles. It is important to be well hydrated both before and after the treatment. Be sure to drink plenty of water while undergoing this therapy.
What areas can be treated?
Essentially any area of the body where there is skeletal muscle tissue. This includes the abdomen, back, arms, shoulders, chest, buttocks, hips and legs (thighs, knees, and calves).
We do not use place electrodes on the spine nor do we conduct cross-spinal electricity. We also do not perform any facial microcurrent.
How many treatments do I need before I see results?
Results will vary person to person (depending on the treatment plan) but most will see or feel noticeable results after the first treatment. For example, a client looking for body sculpting will see inch loss or tightening of the skin. A client looking for relief from back pain will walk out standing a little taller and breathing a little deeper.
How long will my results last?
One session will produce results that will last about 48-72 hours. Some client's seeking minor pain relief may only need one treatment. However, it's important to note that these treatments are cumulative, meaning the more you have, the more improvements you will see (and feel) and the longer the results will last. The average number of treatments depends on the complexity of the issue.
Pacific Wave Microcurrent offers series of 5, 10, and 15 sessions where we recommend twice weekly treatments so we can "re-educate" your muscle tissue to stay in their new form. Muscle re-education can be accomplished to a limited extent without electrical current, such as with massage therapy, however, when performed using microcurrent the results are extraordinary. After completing a series, you will only need one treatment every 6 weeks in order to maintain lasting results.
Microcurrent Therapy will work best for someone who is ready to incorporate it with a healthy lifestyle.
Is it painful?
NO, not at all, many clients even find it relaxing! Our non-invasive treatments cause zero pain, swelling or downtime. You will experience a tingling vibration of the skin and actually feel your muscles contract. But unlike a challenging workout, you won't experience any soreness following your treatment. Many clients even report feeling more engergized!
Is it safe?
YES, absolutely! You can rest assured that your safety is our primary responsibility. Our medical grade, Class I machine is FDA registered , offering an alternative to invasive and risky surgeries at a fraction of the cost. It is our mission and passion to provide you with the most innovative anti-aging and restorative solutions for optimal health and well-being.
CONTRAINDICATIONS INCLUDE: Cardiac pacemakers, women who are pregnant or actively trying to get pregnant, epilepsy, and metal implants. If you have a spinal cord injury or disc bulge pressing on your spinal cord, be sure to tell the therapist, as normal treatment sensation may feel magnified.
What should I wear?
Ideally loose or stretchy clothing but anything comfortable is fine. Keep in mind the area being treated will be exposed.
How long does each session last?
Each session is approximately 60 minutes, with actual treatment time 30-45 minutes.
Can I exercise the same day I receive a treatment?
YES! Just make sure you drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated.
